MOSPRO Pet Fountain

We purchased the MOSPRO Pet Fountain so our reviewer could put it to the test in her home. Keep reading for our full product review.

If you’ve wandered past automatic water dispensers at Petco or PetSmart, you may have wondered if your furry, four-legged friends need one. Automatic water dispensers typically hold a large capacity of water to meet pets’ drinking needs for days to weeks at a time, eliminating the need for daily refills.

We’ve wondered ourselves if our thirsty, water-loving Goldendoodle would prefer moving water to his standard bowl of still water. After all, we love accessories that keep our pooch happy, healthy, and comfortable—not to mention how much we enjoy spoiling him! The MOSPRO Pet Fountain is equipped with a carbon filter to provide fresh-tasting, better-smelling water to encourage proper hydration for animals of all sizes. Is it the right choice for your pet? Keep reading for everything we discovered about the MOSPRO Pet Fountain.

Setup Process: Up and running in no time

This fountain was incredibly easy to set up. There are minimal pieces to identify and the included instructions are very easy to follow. We attached the pump to the bottom of the water basin (it’s marked to show you exactly where it goes), positioned the activated carbon filter within the fountain lid, filled it with 8 cups of water, and plugged it in.

Design: Minimalist, compact, and functional

Right out of the box, we were taken with how cute this fountain is. The white and aqua blue design complemented our sunroom decor. Normally, we’re weary of food and drinkware made from plastic, but we were pleased to find this fountain is BPA-free, non-toxic, food-grade certified, and odorless.

At first glance, we thought the fountain was going to be too small to be of much use for our large Goldendoodle, but we were wrong. The MOSPRO holds a maximum of 64 ounces (8 cups) of water and a max fill line is printed on the inside of the base so you don’t overfill it.

Normally, we’re weary of food and drinkware made from plastic, but we were pleased to find this fountain is BPA-free, non-toxic, food-grade certified, and odorless.

We love that the water is contained in the base of this fountain. It helped cut down on spills when our dog took a drink and made it easier to move for cleaning and refilling. Plus, because the water isn’t constantly exposed to air, it stays cleaner and free from hair and dust.

We also appreciate how quietly the fountain operates; the pump is virtually undetectable in use. The only time we noticed pump noise was when the water level began to decrease, which was actually a helpful hint it was time to add more water. As for the water noise, it sounds similar to the trickle of a decorative fountain. We found the sound to be peaceful, relaxing, and a welcome addition to our sunroom ambiance.

There are three water flow options. One attachment creates a gurgling, rippling water surface, while the second flower attachment produces multiples streams of free-flowing water. The fountain can also be run without any attachment for a very soft and gentle rippling water surface.

Pet Interaction: Our dog took right to it

Our dog, Max, warmed right up to this fountain. He loves playing in hoses and sprinklers, so he was immediately drawn to the moving water. After a few sniffs, he happily lapped water from the fountain. We tried both water flow attachments to see if Max seemed to prefer one over the other. The rippling surface flow seemed to be his favorite; we noticed he drank more often when it was in this setting.

At first glance, we thought the fountain was going to be too small to be of much use for our large Goldendoodle, but we were wrong.

Max typically eats and drinks from bowls in a raised feeder stand. Because he’s so tall, we appreciated the extra elevation of this fountain; he didn’t have to reach all the way to the floor for a drink.

Price: Plenty of value at an affordable price

The MOSPRO Pet Fountain will run you about $30. Similar pet water dispensers tend to cost anywhere from $20 to $35. This model offers plenty of value for the price point. The design is small, compact, and holds up to 8 cups of water, which should last most pets several days. The water continuously runs through an activated carbon filter, ensuring clean H2O around the clock. There are three water flow options so you can also see which your pet prefers. Replacement filters will cost you $2 to $3 a piece, but the fountain includes two filters to get you started.

MOSPRO Pet Fountain vs. PetSafe Drinkwell 360 Multi-Pet Fountain

If you prefer stainless steel construction over plastic, you’ll want to check out the PetSafe Drinkwell 360 Mult-Pet Stainless Steel Fountain. Priced around $100 ($50 when it’s on sale—which is often), it’s about two to three times the price of the MOSPRO. The extra money gets you extra water capacity and water flow options as well as a stainless-steel build. The PetSafe fountain can hold up to 128 ounces (16 cups) of water and comes with five spout attachments. It’s not quite noisy, but it is a bit louder than the MOSPRO; with the PetSafe, we could detect the humming of the motor, whereas the MOSPRO pump was silent.

Like the MOSPRO, the PetSafe also includes an activated carbon filter to keep water smelling and tasting fresh. If you can justify the price and don’t mind a few extra parts to store, it’s a great choice to meet the needs large pups and multi-pet households.

Final Verdict

Definitely buy it!

Our large-breed dog loved the MOSPRO Pet Fountain and we love that it’s affordable and super quiet. With three water flow options, a carbon filtration system, and 8-cup water capacity, this fountain provides several days-worth of water for cats and dogs of all sizes.
